recognised primarily as a sculptor, kadishman is an artist whose artistic expressions are not restricted to a sole medium. he has always questioned established ideals and materials, and chooses to follow his own whimsical impulses. through his present work and also in his previous abstract geometric form-language, he not only expresses his attachement to nature, but also his love of life.

being a former shepherd, the first sheep in his work appeared at the 1978 venice biennale, where he presented an actual flock of sheep and himself as sheperd - a living sculpture. in 1995 he started to paint sheep heads and with admirable energy, he created over thousand different sheep portraits in two years. in 1997 a special installation called 'shalechet' (fallen leaves), as a monument for the victims of all times. the public was to walk over a thick layer of iron cut heads, of which the eyes and mouths were spread wide open, crying for ever in silence. 1995 kadishman was honoured by his country with the israel prize for plastic arts. his work is shown in many international exhibitions and collections.
