starting as a conceptual artist involved with nature, registering the 'sculptural' stages of plant growing in photographs, buisman develops into a sculptor as from 1980. the growth of plants and trees remains the source of inspiration when he starts to build towers of different kinds, combining natural elements with abstract numeral growth. his sculptures in concrete, wood or bronze often show a spiral development. apart from sculpting, he also realizes large scale growing projects, using living trees. these two sides in his oeuvre make buisman a very capable artist for commissions in public space, indoors as well as outside. |
